BAKER, George W.

George W. Baker, who had lived in Pottawatomie township for the past 63 years died Wednesday Sept 25 at his farm home six miles east of Princeton.  Cancer of the stomach caused his death.  He was born in Ladoga, Indiana Oct 25, 1848 and was about 70 years of age at death.  In 1878 he was married to Miss Fannie Beal who died in 1888.  Later he was married to Miss Jennie Ashby who survives.  Besides the widow he is survived by three children, J. Joe Baker of Fleet, Alberta, Canada, Franklin J. Baker of Princeton and Mrs. Mary Carson of Forsyth, Mont, also two brothers, Frank A. Baker of Lane and Joseph Baker of Greeley.  Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon at Baker church, three miles west of Land and burial was in Baker cemetery. – kbz –

note: believe where he was born was about on the border of Putnam-Montgomery lines as his brother was born there as well but is listed as Putnam County.
